Thanks for considering our race!  Looking for a solid race suitable for the beginner or advanced athlete? Also one that is truly flat, fast and accurate? Have you ever won a medal made of pure .999 silver? Well, you have come to the right place!

RAMM Sports is pleased to present a fun, flat, and fast USAT sanctioned Duathlon providing over $1000 in awards! Our course is also closed to car traffic!

When: Sunday November 10th, 2013 at 7:30am

Where: The 3rd annual San Diego Duathlon will take place in beautiful Mission Bay park in San Diego. You will be racing on the course where the sport of Duathlon and Triathlon started in 1973/74!

Why the Duathlon? Besides being a great sport on it's own here is another
reason: If you have "tried" a triathlon or are looking to improve on your race, according to the International Triathlon Union (ITU), "Although many competitors specialize in duathlon, the sport is often used during the triathlon off-season by Age Groupers and Elites to improve their run speed and bike power. Events are usually held in the spring or autumn so as not to clash with summer triathlon races."

Course description and rules: The course is a "point-to-point" format with the start-line, transition, and finish-line areas all within 200 yards of each other. The course is CLOSED to car traffic.

Athletes will run a one loop 1.5mi course around South Shores / Rose Starns park to Fiesta Island. At the entrance to Fiesta Island transition to their bikes and complete the 20km time trial course around Fiesta Island (3 big loops). Athletes then dismount their bikes for a final 2 loop run (2.5mi) around South Shores / Rose Starns park to the finish! The course is accurately measured and is flat and fast!

The San Diego Duathlon will have all USAT rules apply. It is the athletes responsibility to review all USAT rules. NOTE: All competitors must wear approved ANSI helmets and there is NO DRAFTING on the bike course. Drafting rules will be strictly enforced by bike marshals and violators may be warned, issued a time penalty or disqualified.

All competitors will be required to sign a USAT and general participation waiver either at the check-in or on Active.com when signing up electronically.

Awards: Our awards are second to none! Top overall male and female finishers in the open division will be given a 4oz .999 pure Silver bar! Open 2nd/3rd place will also be given a pure silver medal. The top master and senior masters (50+ and 60+ winners (M/F)) will also be given .999 pure silver medals. Awards go 3 deep for 5 year age groups, military and clydesdale divisions. Total value of the awards is over $1000. Note: no double-dipping allowed.

Post-race refreshments/Athlete gifts: Perfect Food Bars, Hammer Heed/Gel, water, fruit, and Mimi's muffins will be available after the race. All athletes receive a color T-shirt.

Volunteers and Staff: Our staff consists of veteran athletes who have produced many events over many years. Our volunteers are all adult working professionals. All volunteers will be capable of providing good instructions.

Prizes: We will be giving away some 25+ great post-race prizes such as: Gift certificates from Movin' Shoes, one day tour packages provided by Speed Boat Adventures Inc., and vouchers for car detail packages from 5 Diamond Detailing.

Weather: The weather in San Diego during November is excellent for racing. It is expected to be around 60 degrees at race start warming to 70 degrees. It is usually sunny, clear and calm winds. However the San Diego Duathlon is a "rain or shine" event. Prepare and plan accordingly for a change in the weather!
